About Image Cropper

Crop any portion of an image by specifying pixel coordinates (X, Y, Width, Height) or by dragging a selection rectangle on the preview. Supports freeform cropping for any dimensions and preset aspect ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2). Works entirely in your browser with no upload required.

Use Cases

Removing unwanted borders or backgrounds, cropping profile photos to a square, cutting out a specific object from a photo, preparing images for social media with exact aspect ratios, extracting a region of interest from a screenshot.

How It Works

Renders the image on a canvas, then uses ctx.drawImage() with source coordinates to extract the selected region onto a new canvas sized to the crop dimensions. The result is exported as JPEG or PNG.

FAQs

Can I crop to an exact aspect ratio?

Yes. Select a preset ratio (1:1, 4:3, 16:9) and the crop box will be constrained to that ratio as you resize it.

What is the minimum crop size?

The minimum is 1×1 pixel, though very small crops will produce low-resolution results. There is no maximum — you can crop to the full image dimensions.

Does cropping reduce the file size?

Yes. A smaller image contains fewer pixels, so the file size decreases proportionally. Cropping to half the width and height reduces the pixel count to 25% of the original.
