About Remove Blank Pages from PDF
Automatically scan your PDF and remove any blank or nearly-blank pages in one click. The tool analyses the text content of each page and removes pages with no detectable text. Useful for cleaning up scanned documents, printer-generated PDFs, and merged files that contain empty separator pages. All processing is local — nothing is uploaded.
Use Cases
Removing blank separator pages from scanned multi-page documents, cleaning up merged PDFs that introduced empty pages, stripping filler pages from exported reports, deleting blank pages before printing.
How It Works
Uses PDF.js to extract text content from each page. Pages with fewer than 10 characters of text are classified as blank and omitted. The remaining pages are copied into a new PDF using pdf-lib and downloaded.
FAQs
What counts as a "blank" page?
Any page with fewer than 10 characters of extractable text is considered blank. This catches fully empty pages and pages with just whitespace or a single small element.
Will it remove pages with only images but no text?
Yes — if a page has no text layer (e.g. a full-page image), it is treated as blank. Adjust the sensitivity by previewing the page count before and after.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDFs typically have no text layer, so all pages would be detected as blank. Use an OCR tool first to add a text layer before using this tool.
