About Crop PDF Margins
Trim the margins of a PDF to remove excess white space, crop scanned document borders, or create a tighter view of your content. Set custom crop amounts (in mm) for each side independently — top, bottom, left, and right. The crop is applied to all pages at once. Your original PDF content is never altered; only the visible area is adjusted.
Use Cases
Removing wide white borders from scanned documents, cropping PDF margins for e-reader display, trimming book scans to remove black edges, reducing wasted space on printed documents.
How It Works
Uses pdf-lib to set the CropBox on each PDF page, which tells PDF viewers to display only a sub-region of the page. The original content and MediaBox remain unchanged — only the visible crop window is adjusted.
FAQs
Does cropping permanently remove content?
No. PDF cropping works by setting a CropBox that hides parts of the page from view. The original content is still in the file and can be uncropped. Think of it like a mask, not a cut.
Does it affect all pages equally?
Yes. The same crop amounts are applied to all pages. For per-page cropping, use the PDF Page Splitter to extract individual pages first.
What unit is used for crop amounts?
Millimetres (mm). The tool converts to PDF points internally (1 mm ≈ 2.835 points).
